Recently, the China Construction Industry Association announced the list of projects selected for the 2022 Luban Prize for Construction Engineering (Overseas Projects). The Polonnaruwa National Nephrology Hospital Project in Sri Lanka made the list. Congratulations to Shaanxi Construction Engineering Group Co., Ltd. on winning its eighth Luban Prize in the company's history. As one of the project partners, KOYO Elevator supplied multiple medical elevators, passenger elevators, and freight elevators for the project.

The Sri Lanka Polonnaruwa National Nephrology Specialty Hospital Project, agreed upon during former President Maithripala Sirisena's visit to China with President Xi Jinping, is a key aid project undertaken by the Chinese government. It is a national-level, modern, high-standard nephrology specialty hospital integrating medical care, scientific research, administration, and logistical services. Located in Polonnaruwa City on a 6.64-hectare site, the project comprises 21 individual buildings including outpatient clinics, inpatient wards, research offices, and medical support facilities. With a total floor area of 25,900 square meters, it features 100 hemodialysis beds and 200 inpatient beds, addressing Sri Lanka's regional disease treatment needs.

Designed according to Chinese technical standards and meeting Sri Lankan national requirements, the project passed final acceptance inspections by both China and Sri Lanka in 2021. This beautiful structure has become a new landmark in Polonnaruwa and stands as the largest nephrology hospital in South Asia.
